I walked into ICU this morning to find my dad sitting upright in a chair, finishing breakfast and catching up on emails just like nothing had happened. He's nothing short of jaw-dropping in the speed of his recovery time. His nurses said he had a very peaceful night and he's managing his pain this morning. It looks like he'll be moved from ICU today and possibly discharged from the hospital tomorrow. More updates to come. My dad wanted you all to know that your comments have buoyed him through this difficult time. He is convinced that the outpouring of love and support from all of you has been a major player in his recovery. I can't thank you all enough for helping all of us through this. We all feel so lucky to have you in our lives.

Hi Peter! You're looking pretty decent for a post op day 1 person. Elisabeth says you saw the OT. Something like: she's taking off your socks, now you have to put them back on. He-he. As an OT myself, i'm used to asking people to do things out of context so they can demonstrate their skills. Sorry about that!
My piece of unsolicited advice is to keep addressing your left side motor skills, patiently and fearlessly. Also, keep playing those iPad games that challenge your visual-spatial skills.
I hope to meet you before we have to go back.
All the best, Chuck

You look great. I went and told Linda and the rest of the people that work at the nail and spa place that you go too. They were so happy to hear the good news; Some of the people at the Y didn't get the news about you and I informed them on how you are doing. keep up the good work. Joe and I send our love. Behave if you can. Have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. Love, Joe and Dee

Hi Peter! So glad you are doing great! WE knew you would! I must say you remind me a little of Leonard Nemoy in the picture, and I see the hospital gowns are spiffier there at Duke. :o) Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers, and we are hoping that you are able to enjoy a decent Thanksgiving feast in celebration of your successful surgery and occurring recovery. All OUR Best!! xxoo Love to you and Carol and family!, the Hales
